POSITIONAL #01

POSITIONAL #01

From the Positional Perspective series, the work #1 contrasts two representational systems: the positional perspective (Maghami perspective) of Persian painting and the one-point linear perspective of Western art. Persian painting does not seek to imitate nature through realism; instead, it conveys meaning and essence beyond photographic accuracy. Positional perspective emphasizes significance through scale and placement, a method also found in ancient Egyptian and Mesopotamian art, where social and symbolic importance determines the size of figures.

HOW TALL I AM?

PROTOTYPES

Height, beyond standardized ideals of beauty, often signals power, knowledge, or agency. In positional perspective—where scale and placement convey importance—larger or taller figures assert status. Drawing on this visual logic, I began exploring height and measurement through my own body, using it as an intimate and accessible medium. I reimagined bodily growth through gestures such as standing on my toes, a physical expression of striving upward and negotiating visibility and power.
